Lisa’s areas of expertise are 20th century art, postwar and contemporary art, fashion photography, vintage photography and surrealism. Other services include private, curated tours of galleries, museums, auction previews, and art fairs; installation design and direction; auction representaion including private treaty sales; research and vetting of secondary market works; and market and insurance valuations.
Lisa Jacobs is a curator, art consultant, author and speaker with over twenty years of experience working with impressionist, modern, surrealist, post-war and contemporary art. She works with corporations, galleries and individuals on art acquisitions, collection management and exhibition planning.
Lisa has written, edited and contributed to numerous books and publications on contemporary and modern art. Most recently Lisa was honored to collaborate with the Guggenheim museum on the book of the Hannelore B. and Rudiolph B. Schulhof Collection of which she serves as curator. She has also spoken extensively about contemporary art at museums, galleries and corporate and private events.
Prior to founding Lisa Jacobs Fine Art in 1995, Lisa held positions at Christine Burgin Gallery, Peter Blum, and led curatorial projects at Nicholas Davies Gallery, Devon Golden Fine Art. The Equitable Gallery, Fundacio Gala-Salvador Dali and has served as curator for several important private collections. Lisa’s academic training includes Bachelor of Arts degrees in art history from Smith College and La Sorbonne, Ecole des Beaux Arts and a certificate in filmmaking from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Known for her expertise and sophisticated eye as well as for her affinity for mixing art of different styles and periods, Lisa’s trademark attention to detail, adventurous taste in art and historical reference points are hallmarks of her distinctive style.

Julien Levy (1906-1981) was one of the most influential art dealers of the twentieth century. The Julien Levy Gallery, which opened in Manhattan in 1931 and closed in 1949, played and essential role in the shift of the cultural avant-garde from Paris to New York. Among the artists Levy championed are Henri Cartier-Bresson, Joseph Cornell, Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Walker Evans, Frida Kahlo, Fernand Leger, Rene Magritte, and Dorothea Tanning. Lisa Jacobs compiled and edited this vivid collection of essays, reminiscences and cultural commentary on the gallerist and his legacy.
